## What it does

Type `/preview` and say what to show, for example `/preview ContentView on an iPhone 18 Pro`. Claude finds the file, the `#Preview` and the device, and Xcode renders the preview on that device. The picture shows in the tool's pane, in Apple's frame of the device.

- Every render names a device: an iPhone or iPad simulator by its model, or the Mac. When your words leave the file, the preview or the device open, Claude asks you.
- When Claude starts a simulator run, the tool stops that call one time and asks whether a preview answers the question.
- `/preview off` takes the tool out of a session, and `/preview on` brings it back.

## Who it is for

iOS and macOS developers who build SwiftUI apps with Claude Code and want to see a screen on a named device without a simulator run. It does not tap through your app: for taps and flows, use the simulator.

## What you get

You get the version that is on sale on the day that you buy, as one zip. The zip holds one folder, `swiftui-preview/`, with:

- the tool's source: the hooks module in TypeScript, and the Swift source of its `bezel` command, which frames each render
- `README.md`: what the tool does.
- `INSTALL.md`: the full install steps.
- `AGENTS.md`: notes for your coding agent.
- `CHANGELOG.md`: what changed in each release.
- `LICENSE`: the Starter Tool License.
- `RELEASE`: the version of this zip.

The zip holds source files only. It holds no pre-built program and none of Apple's artwork. You download Apple's bezels from Apple, and you build the `bezel` command one time.

## What you need

- A Mac with macOS 27. The tool does not run on Windows or Linux.
- Xcode 27.1, open on your project, with its MCP server turned on and added to Claude Code.
- A hidden Xcode setting, turned on with one Terminal command. Apple does not document it, and a later Xcode can drop it. Without it, the tool renders nothing.
- Claude Code 2.1.296 or later in the terminal. Tested with Xcode 27.1 and Claude Code 2.1.296 in the terminal, on macOS 27.0.1.
- You need no Node.js.
- Apple's product bezels, a free download from Apple's Design Resources page. Without them, the tool renders with no device frame.
- To see the picture in a terminal: kitty or Ghostty.
- If your organization manages your Claude Code settings, those settings can stop a tool that you install yourself, and can stop `--plugin-dir`. Ask the person who manages them.

## How the install works

1. Unzip the zip. You get the folder `swiftui-preview/`.
2. Move the folder into `~/.claude/skills/`. The tool is then at `~/.claude/skills/swiftui-preview/`.
3. Download Apple's bezels into the tool's `bezel/Bezels/` folder, and build the `bezel` command with one Terminal command.
4. Turn on Xcode's MCP server and the hidden Xcode setting, and allow two of Xcode's tools and the tool's picture folder in your Claude Code settings.
5. Start a Claude Code session. Claude Code loads the tool. There is no install command.

The full steps are in `INSTALL.md` in the zip.

## It is a starter tool

SwiftUI Preview is a starter tool. You change it to fit your work.

- You can use, copy and change it, for yourself and for your work, in any number of projects.
- The license is for one person: you. Each person on your team buys their own copy.
- A version that you changed in a significant way is yours. You can share or sell it. Give it its own name. Do not say that NatashaTheRobot made it or supports it.
- You must not share, publish or sell the tool as it is, or with small changes only. A new name and new colors are small changes.

You change the files in `~/.claude/skills/swiftui-preview/`. Then `/reload-plugins` applies your change.

The full terms are in the `LICENSE` file in the zip. The tool comes with no warranty.

## Updates

New versions do not come by themselves. To get them, select "Get new versions by email" in the purchase email. The button opens the update page of SwiftUI Preview. There, press "Email me new versions of SwiftUI Preview".

After that, the store emails you a one-time download link at each release that NatashaTheRobot announces. If you join the list, you get a download link for each new version by email. It costs nothing more.

A new version is a new zip. It does not change the copy that you have.

`INSTALL.md` says how to carry your changes and your bezels over to a new version.

## Questions

### Can I use it at work?

Yes, for your own work, in any number of projects. The license is for one person: each person on your team buys their own copy. The `LICENSE` file has the full terms.

### Can I put it in a public repository?

Not as it is. You must not share or publish the tool as it is, or with small changes only. A version that you changed in a significant way is yours, under its own name, and you must leave Apple's bezels out of it.

### Why does it need Apple's bezels?

The frames are Apple's artwork, so the zip cannot hold them. Apple offers them as a free download. The tool reads the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Duo, iPad Air (M4) and MacBook Air (M5) bezels.

### Can I get my money back?

The refund rules are at https://tools.natashatherobot.com/refunds.
